MSc CBB courses are divided into core courses and advanced courses. Students can take courses at ETH Zürich, the University of Basel, and the University of Zurich.
Students must acquire a total of 40 ECTS in the core course category: 2 ECTS from the mandatory CBB seminar plus 38 ECTS from courses to be chosen from the list. For each subcategory, at least 1 ECTS must be completed.
The mandatory CBB seminar (2 ECTS) must be passed by all students. Failing the mandatory CBB seminar twice leads to the exclusion from the MSc CBB programme.
The core course list in the ETH course catalogue is a closed list. No other courses can be added to this category. The assignment of courses to the respective subcategories cannot be changed.
Note that some core courses are mutually exclusive courses. They are marked as such in the study plan.
Students must acquire a total of 30 ECTS in the advanced course category. Thereof, at least 16 ECTS must be acquired in the theory subcategory and at least 10 ECTS in the biology subcategory.
The list of advanced courses in the ETH Zurich course catalogue is an open list. Other courses may be added as advanced courses by approval of the mentor.
Regulations regarding Science in Perspective (SiP) courses are stipulated by the offering department D-GESS.
Students must acquire 2 ECTS in the Science in Perspective (SiP) category.
The ETH course catalogue lists the science in perspective course units under respective category - no other courses can be added to this category.
Only exception: BSSE students may complete a language course at the University of Basel Language Center (Sprachenzentrum) as SiP course, taking into account the restrictions regarding language course levels.
Students must register for courses offered by the University of Basel directly with the University of Basel.

Credit transfer: After completion of the course, the transcript of records from the University of Basel must be submitted to the to transfer the credits and results to your myStudies account at ETH Zürich. Note that the e-mail with the course result is not sufficient!

Students must register for courses offered by the University of Zurich directly with the University of Zurich.
Students must register as 'Mobility students within Switzerland' at the University of Zurich.

For the registration, the matriculation confirmation is needed. Students who do not yet hold their matriculation confirmation can upload their ETH admission letter as placeholder until they have the matriculation confirmation.
Credit transfer: After completion of the course, the result and credits will be transferred to your ETH myStudies account automatically.
